Is Headlight Restoration Worth It?

Modern headlights are polycarbonate plastic with a UV protective coating. Sun exposure breaks down that coating over 5-8 years, leaving the plastic underneath to oxidize and yellow.

New headlight assemblies often cost $300-$1,500 each. Professional restoration runs $80-$200 for both lights and lasts 1-3 years when sealed properly.

Restoration also avoids the labor cost of installing new housings and the hassle of color matching.

If the lens is cracked, internally fogged, or the reflector inside is damaged, replacement is the only option. For everything else, restoration wins.
